About Us

Our vision is for everyone to encounter the presence of God, being restored and transformed.
Jesus said, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty’.
The House of Bread provides space for guests to take time to draw close to God. Guests are welcome to book in for personal retreat time or to join in with events we host: guided retreat days, prayer and worship, soaking prayer, abiding mornings, art days and teaching events.

Gather Together

We also offer a place for Christian
churches and Christian organisations
to gather for worship, prayer, discipleship
events, and leadership retreats.

International

We love to welcome guests who come from all
over the world, and it’s always great to
welcome back those who come to The House
of Bread time and time again!

All that The House of Bread is able to offer is made possible through God’s leading and provision in building a team of staff and volunteers, who are committed to seeking God and to working together in creating the space for guests to come away to.

Our Story

Founded in 1987, two women with incredible faith and vision, Judy and Fran, set up a Christian centre in a derelict Georgian mill. In 2007, following a major fire and a flood, the vision and original name, ‘Green Hill Outreach’ was laid down, restoration work of the mill took place, and following God’s leading, the new name, ‘The House of Bread’ was given to the ministry. Today the whole site offers a vibrant, contemporary place open to all to come and seek God.

We truly value the team at The House of Bread. Each one bringing who they are, offering their time and gifts to bless one another as well as the guests.

Fulfilling the vision in providing space for people to come away to and encounter God, is only made possible through God’s leading and his amazing provision, and a big part of this is the people that he brings to be part of the team.
