Visit

The House of Bread is surrounded by beautiful Cotswold countryside in the heart of England. It occupies the site of an ancient mill. The main building is the converted mill; it has a large meeting room and lounges, and sleeps up to 36 guests in 19 en-suite bedrooms.

There are additional meeting rooms on the site, including a converted barn. Our largest meeting room can accommodate 50 guests.

We offer self-catering accomodation; guests have use of a self-catering kitchen and a dining room. We can recommend caterers for groups.

We enjoy extensive gardens and grounds, fields, wildlife, a river and mill pond, providing quiet resting places and spaces for groups to gather. There are countryside walks on the door step.

What to expect?

Most importantly, the presence of God! You will receive a warm welcome, be given relevant information for your time at The House of Bread, and be offered a prayer of blessing. One of the team will be available on site at all times during your stay.

There are countryside views from rooms in the mill, and you can expect comfortable accommodation for your time here, with meeting rooms, lounges, comfy sofas, hot drink-making facilities in the lounges and bedrooms. Bedrooms are en-suite, with the second floor retreat bedrooms providing a comfortable chair and a desk.

Individuals

Individuals or two people are welcome for a day or overnight stay. We set apart retreat weeks where the whole mill building is a quiet space for guests, with access to all the lounges. During retreat weeks you are welcome to tuck yourself away or you have the option of joining in with guided retreat days, prayer, worship and reflection times.

Please see the events page for dates of retreat weeks.

Group stays

We welcome Christian churches and Christian organisations to gather for worship, prayer and discipleship events, and we offer an ideal space for leadership teams to meet for retreat time together and team building. It’s always great to welcome back groups that come time and time again; some groups describe The House of Bread as their second home! And we of course love to welcome new groups!

You are welcome to book for the day or for an overnight stay. We offer self-catering accommodation; we can recommend caterers and local places to eat – please see ‘self-catering information’. Do contact us if you have any questions, and you are very welcome to come and look around prior to your booking.

Self-catering

For your day or overnight booking you will have use of a fully equipped self-catering kitchen and dining room.

We can recommend local caterers, and also local places to eat. It is possible to have online food shopping delivered.

Hot drinks

We have facilities for guests to make hot drinks in the kitchens and in the lounge areas, and also in their bedrooms. Tea bags are provided. Instant coffee and fresh coffee are also provided; we have a fresh coffee machine where flasks of coffee can be made. We provide milk for day guests and ask overnight guests to bring their own milk. Guests need to provide their own alternative milks.
